The role of Contracts Manager is of vital importance to the company and is a rare, exciting opportunity to become an integral part of our talented and growing team and for career development with an established florist business in London. The right candidate will have the scope to grow their skills and is a unique chance to work with an experienced and fun team of professionals.

This is a full time, Monday-Friday, hands-on operational role that demands logistical thinking and a creative mind, to ensure that Paul Thomas Flowers continue to offer its clients the best possible product and service. As part of the management team, this person will work closely with the business owner Paul, the General Manager and other department managers and will head and manage a large team of florists, designers and drivers. A highly competitive salary is on offer to the right candidate.

Tasks:
  • The designing and overseeing of the team designing the installations for weekly contract flowers and working to client briefs and budgets, whilst carefully considering the business’ desired profit margins.
  • Calculating the volumes of flowers and foliage required on a weekly basis, ordering and buying them from wholesalers.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with all weekly contract clients, keeping in touch on a regular basis in the form of quarterly business reviews as a minimum.
  • Securing new clients – organising and attending site visits, producing visual proposals and quotes, whilst maintaining profit margins and providing a competitive service, following up with potential clients and securing weekly contract flowers.
  • Issuing all relevant staffing and logistics for weekly delivery and maintenance rounds. Ensuring over all profitability remains consistent and in line with company requirements.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and target clients. Bringing in new contracts business on a regular basis is a key aspect of this role. As a part of this, you will be expected to work on business development strategy, produce marketing collateral and work on new business tenders.
  • The Contracts Manager should go out on the delivery and maintenance rounds from time to time, to get to know the clients and build strong, long-lasting relationships and learn the PTF brand.
  • The overseeing of the team organising the production of Christmas contract installations as well as managing the staffing and logistics for these installations (and subsequent clears).
  • Organising regular photo shoots of contract work to produce collateral that can be used for the website, in proposals and tenders, on social media and for general marketing purposes.

Experience:

THE CANDIDATE MUST:

  • Be an experienced contracts manager and highly experienced florist, with a background in providing corporate and high-end floristry, possessing a strong grasp of commercial floristry.
  • Have a proactive and enthusiastic approach to relationship management, including an ability to manage key accounts, and have a thorough understanding and capability to drive revenue growth in contracts and manage clients.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills and be highly confident in client-facing situations, excellent at people management, multitasking and prioritising. They will also possess qualities of ambition, direction and determination, with an eye for detail and consistency.
  • Have a good head for logistics.
  • Ideally have a full clean driver’s licence.
  • This is a full-time position with a highly competitive salary. Start date March 2020

  • Have impeccable spoken and written English
  • Have good computer skills
  • Be well presented and personable, able to work with energy and passion
  • Be punctual, reliable and able to work flexible hours, whilst remaining calm under pressure
  • Be eager to take creative inspiration from outside the world of floristry into the world of art, fashion, interior design and set design.

Part-time florist, PYRUS

Description:

PYRUS is a botanical design studio and Victorian walled flower garden based outside Edinburgh, in Scotland. We work on weddings, events and installations throughout the UK, specialising in seasonal British flowers. We are looking for an experienced florist to join our team part-time this spring.

Role and responsibilities:

The role:

  • Part-time position running approximately April through December to Christmas, including weekends as required.
  • Assisting on wedding, installation and event work. Delivering smaller PYRUS weddings independently, as required.
  • Documenting work for PYRUS archive and social media channels, as required.
  • Ordering stock and studio materials.
  • Working both independently and as part of our team on large scale events/installations.
  • Embracing the ethos of British flowers and using blooms from the PYRUS garden.
  • General studio assistance and support.
  • Depending on experience and ability, there may also be gardening and wholesale cut flower duties available.

Essential:

  • Experienced creative florist.
  • Independent thinker/do-er.
  • Organised individual, experienced in working to deadlines.
  • Passion for seasonal, local flowers.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Can-do attitude and adaptability.
  • Willing to embrace and learn the PYRUS approach and aesthetic.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Over 25 with a full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Own vehicle (we are a rural business and own vehicle is required to reach studio)

Preferred:

  • Understanding of the British flower industry, seasonal, locally grown flowers and sustainable floristry methods.
  • Ability to thrive in high pressure environments and enjoy an element of organised chaos!
  • Experience in driving a van.
  • Interest in social media/marketing and good photography skills.
