With the month of May heralding the start of the much-anticipated peony season, you'll find so many stunning varieties starting to appear at New Covent Garden Flower Market.
Look out for 'Shirley Temple' (pictured above), Command Performance, Odile and Pecher to name but a few.
And if that isn't enough excitement in the world of flowers, this month we've also got three very special events taking place - the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, RHS Chelsea Flower Show and Chelsea in Bloom!
British Flowers
With the weather starting to warm up, boxes upon boxes of British blooms like this dainty Scilla (bluebells) are popping up at Pratley, as also shared recently on their Instagram account.
And what a wonderful sight for sore eyes these homegrown Ranunculus are too!
World Flowers
Have you seen pink forget-me-nots (Myosotis) before?! You'll find them at Dennis Edwards Flowers, where they're continuing to colour band their stand which you can see on their Instagram feed.
With wedding season starting to pick up steam, how about these pretty ‘Malaya Gem’ spray roses at DG Wholesale Flowers? Such a delicate shade of blush. By the way, do check out their amazing peony selection as featured on their Instagram account.
Or if its garden roses that you're on the look-out for, how about these 'Victorian Peach' roses at Dennis Edwards Flowers?
Alternatively, head to Zest Flowers for 'Memory Lane' roses from Luke. His Instagram Stories are going down a storm on their account. Meanwhile, Graeme's heading towards the 15K mark on their Instagram Grid!
There's still time to make the most of grape hyacinths, both blue and white. Muscari ‘Casablanca’ can be found at Zest Flowers.
Staying with white and perfect for creating movement in meadowesque style designs is Spiraea at DG Wholesale Flowers.
Over at Bloomfield, there's an incredible selection of foxgloves. How about this beautiful variety called Digitalis ‘Camelot Lavender’?
They also have this very delicate bloom called Amsonia tabernaemontana 'Night Sky', which featured recently on their Instagram feed.
Both white and blue Nigella, with the common name love-in-a-mist, can be found in abundance at Nine Elms this month.
And do head over to Bloomfield if you're looking for poppies (Papaver) with red petals or even the orange petalled variety too.
British Foliage
At Porters Foliage, you'll find British dogwood in leaf. Follow their Instagram account to see more of their greenery offering. And pop in when you're next at the Flower Market to see their new 'pyramid-shaped' display stands.
Birch in leaf has just started to come in at GB Foliage, reminding me of the silver birch trees which Abigail MacNiven from Petal & Stalk used with dramatic effect in her British Flowers Week 2017 installation.
White leaf, also known as Sorbus, has also started to become available at our foliage specialists.
And how about the spectacular colours of this Pieris at GB Foliage, who also have an Instagram account.
British Plants
English Pelargonium plants, grown at the Windsor Estate, can be found at Arnott & Mason. They're ideal for adding a splash of colour to outside spaces!
Whilst over at L Mills, they're in British Osteospermum Heaven, with several different colourways available.
World Plants
Large pots of Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Tivoli Red’ can be found this month at Quality Plants. On a much smaller scale pot-wise, if you follow their Instagram Stories, you'll know they recently featured their much sought after 'magnetic pots', which you can use to display mini plants such as succulents and diddy Phalaenopsis orchids!
How about this striking variety of Monstera at Arnott & Mason? With its oval-shaped holes in its leaves, it's called Monstera obliqua and it was recently featured on their Instagram account.
The intoxicating scent of trolleys brimming full of Jasminum polyanthum plants in a range of different sizes can be found at Evergreen.
Sundries
C Best always have a fabulous selection of containers for plants. And they've surpassed themselves this month with their latest range of every type of earthenware pot you could ever wish for...

It's just a very small snapshot of just some of the flowers, foliage, plants and sundries at New Covent Garden Market in May.
