Smiles all round for these visitors to the Market. July is a glorious month, with British produce firing on all cylinders.

First homegrown runners spotted on my visit, along with peas and broad beans.

Soft fruit is sublime. Here's a buyer stocking up on strawberries at S Thorogood.

British gooseberries and raspberries are here. Did you catch our Chef's Guide to Gooseberries? This includes chef tips from top restaurants including Rovi and Hide. At the moment, currants tend to be from the Continent.

Other British produce going strong includes all the salads, tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, spring onions, chard, broccoli, cabbage, courgette, Romanesco, carrots with tops and a wide range of herbs.

New potatoes are excellent - here's some of the last Jersey Royals, which fade once other growers start to harvest.

From the Continent, stone fruit is stunning. Apricots, peaches and nectarines have been going for a while; new arrivals include blood peaches.

Peppers and chillies - like these Padron - are abundant. Other lines include courgettes and their flowers, aubergines, Coco de Paimpol beans, borlotti, Delica squash and Tropea onions.

And here's a moody pic to say goodbye - pick-ups circling at wholesaler P&I. See you in August, for the first of the English apples.
