We spoke to expert grocer Jason Glass, Managing Director of Ripe, about their home deliveries:

Can you tell us about Ripe London?

For decades we a have supplied truly market fresh fruit, snacks and essentials (such as milk) to London’s offices to ensure happier, healthier productive teams. Ripe has always been committed to promoting productivity and wellbeing in the workplace and now we are doing the same for London’s homes!

We are founded by the entrepreneurs behind some of London’s most renowned fruiterers, including the famous Panzer’s in St John’s Wood.

We are passionate about sourcing the very best produce at the right price, and providing a first-class box delivery service to workplaces and homes.

Any festive seasonal produce in your boxes that is in season and special?

We are based in New Covent Garden Market. Ripe is surrounded by world class wholesalers of fresh produce; some with over 150 years trading experience and generational knowledge of British and international fresh produce. All our produce is carefully sourced from the market ensuring we support our British and international agricultural communities that produce to the highest standards.

Do you have a nice, uplifting story about your home delivery business and the people behind it?

Ripe originally delivered fruit to London offices and absolutely will again in the future hopefully.

When the pandemic struck, and the City was instructed to work from home we had to drastically change our focus to home delivery. Regardless of all the restriction imposed upon us we have maintained our high quality of service and fresh produce and continue on our mission to supply hungry Londoners’ throughout Lockdown, Christmas and beyond.

We deliver to many vulnerable, isolating and ‘work from home’ families, managing to bring much needed smiles to faces of the elderly and many children across London.

With the help of some of our generous office clients, we created ‘The Ripe Appeal’ enabling us to supply NHS staff throughout London, including St Marys and the Royal Free Hospitals. We also help feed the homeless and vulnerable through St Martins in the Fields in connection with The Passage in Victoria.

During these dark days of the pandemic ‘The Ripe Appeal’ has been as uplifting for the Ripe Workforce as it has for the recipients. We continue giving.

We are an independent British company with strong values and work ethic. We look forward to bringing smiles to the front doors and offices of London.
