Covent Garden Market Authority (CGMA) has announced the completion of two major milestones as it leads the delivery of a modern new market - called ‘The Garden’ - as part of the wider regeneration of its 57 acre site in Vauxhall.
The outline planning application for the redevelopment of the New Covent Garden Market site has been submitted to Wandsworth Council and the final two bidders have submitted their final tenders vying for the right to become CGMA's Private Development Partner.
The submitted planning application would deliver modern new market facilities and a new food centre for London, paid for by developing 2,500 homes, shops, commercial space and parkland on parts of the site not needed for the new market.
The two final bidders are Bouygues UK Ltd and Carlyle Group and St. Modwen Properties plc & Vinci plc.
The selected bidder is to be informed in Spring 2012 following assessment and Government approval.
